Cusco - Trek (Cusco - Mollepata - Challacancha - Soraypampa and Humantay Lake)

  • Early in the morning, departure from Cusco to the village of Mollepata, where we will arrive around 09:00. There are small shops and restrooms.
  • We will have breakfast in Mollepata.
  • We will continue by transport for a 30-minute journey to Challacancha to prepare the equipment for the hike.
  • Then, we will load the horses.
  • The trek begins towards Soraypampa, located at 3850 m, where we will arrive for lunch and set up camp.
  • At this point, we will have enough time to take some breathtaking photos of the canyon area extending across the valley.
  • In the afternoon after lunch, for those who wish, we will have time for a short hike of about 1 hour and 20 minutes to see the beautiful Humantay Lagoon, located at 4200 m, where you will experience the beauty and charm of the area and have the best opportunity to take fantastic photos.
  • Dinner and first campsite at Soraypampa in a cabin.

    Trek (Soraypampa - Salcantay - Wayracpunku - Chaullay - Loreta La Playa)

  • After breakfast, we will start the most difficult part of the trek, passing through the site called Pampa Salcantay. Then, we will take the left slope of the Humantay Glacier, next to the Salcantay Glacier. Around noon, we will reach the highest point, the Salcantay Humantay Pass at 4600 m. We will observe the Salcantay glaciers, and after an hour of rest, we will have lunch in the region called Huayracmachay.
  • Later, we will resume the descent for about 4 hours to Selva Alta (also called the Cloud Forest) to arrive around 16:00 at the village of Chaullay, located at 2900 m. From there, each participant can decide whether to continue on foot or by vehicle to our new Ecolodge Majestic in the Loreta La Playa area, where we will arrive around 17:00.

    Trek (Loreta La Playa - Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric Station - Aguas Calientes)

  • After breakfast, those who wish can explore the area, go down to the Salcantay River, and visit a coffee plantation next to our Ecolodge Majestic to learn about coffee cultivation, harvesting, and processing, ending with a coffee tasting. We will pass by various plantations of coca, coffee, tea, bananas, passion fruit, avocado, and papaya. After this excursion, we will return to the Ecolodge Majestic around 11:00 to rest.
  • Departure by vehicle to the hydroelectric station (1900 m), arriving after a 90-minute ride.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • The hike begins along the train tracks and the Urubamba River. Along the way, we will visit the Intihuatana archaeological site, which has an ancient Inca sundial. We will have a view of Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu, passing through the Cloud Forest, which is home to a wide variety of plants and orchids.
  • In the afternoon, after 3 hours of walking, we will reach the village of Aguas Calientes.
  • Dinner at a tourist restaurant.
  • Overnight at a hotel or in a hostel.

    Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

  • Breakfast at the hotel or continental breakfast at the hostel.
  • In the morning, bus ride up and guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel (about 2 hours). We will visit the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple, and the cemeteries.
  • Free time to explore the citadel or to climb Huayna Picchu for those who have added it as an option in advance.
  • Additionally, you can hike up to the Sun Gate for free, an easier walk that takes about 1.5 hours round trip. Or, if you prefer a shorter and easier walk, you can visit the Inca Bridge, which takes about one hour round trip.
  • Bus descent to Aguas Calientes.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • In the afternoon/evening, return to Ollantaytambo by train. Upon arrival, transfer by tourist bus to a central square in Cusco.
